Comment:
The “Monterone” is a park situated at the end of the town, close to the police station (Carabinieri) a perfect place where socialize, surrounded by trees, birds and a wonderful view to the Adriatic sea.
The main character is Rolando Perazzoli, he tells us his childhood, the centrality of the family, poverty and true friendships.
In Italy during the 1930 the life was not simple, the majority of the population was poor and eat a piece of meat was impossible.
Despite this situation, they were proud, there were solidarity and dignity and they felt lucky to live in a village where at the centre there is the person.
Reading this historical autobiography you will discover curiosities, places and picturesque personages as Fefè (a funny alcoholic), Giggì d' Tattalà (an intellectual homeless), and Nénè (a proud and heroic anti – fascist)
This is a pleasurable book to read, with a strong historical connotation in the last chapter.
