St. Leonard was a french noble of the VI century, he was baptised by the bishop Remigio, he became monk affiliated to the court of king Clodoveo.
His festivity is the 6th of november, and he is the protector of the farmers, blacksmiths, greengrocers, prisoners and his prayers are invoked against the pains of the women in labour..
In this fresco the saint is depicted as an abbot holding a pair of manacles and a missal.
