Description
According to some art critics, this painted was destined for the Church SS Annunziata of Ascoli Piceno, to celebrate the self government granted to the town in 1482 By Pope Sixtus IV.
On the graound there are two angels, inside the room there is Mary.
The winged angels are Saint Gabriel and Saint Emidius, being the patron he is carrying the model of the town of Ascoli Piceno.
The lightray comes from the sky to show that Mary s receiving Jesus Christ into the womb by Holy Spirit.
The pure water in Mary's room means verginity.
The Dove represent the Holy Spirit.
The Apple represents the forbidden fruit, the consequence of the fall of man.
The Cucumber means the promise of Resurrection and Redemption, the Peacock immortality.
There are also the coats of arm of Pope Sixtus IV and the local bishop Prospero Caffareli.
The two figures above at the top of stairs are franciscanfriars.
