This is a dissertation written by Giorgio Settimo is an homage to Ascanio Condivi, the biographer of Michelangelo Buonarroti.
Reading this historical document, the reader will know more profoundly the character of Ascanio, his public life and his loved Ripatransone (the town where he was born)
He was a moderately talented sculptor and architect, he was born in Ripatransone in 1525 and he died here in 1574.
According to the author the majority of his artist works has been lost during the years and we cannot say that he was a mediocre painter.
Undoubtedly Ascanio was famous for being a disciple and first biographer of Michelangelo, this is proved by historical documents and reasoning based on true and verifiable facts.
This book is divided into three chapters, the most interesting are "Ascanio Condivi Writer" here the reader can read the origin and development of "The Life of Michelangelo" the epistolary war between Giorgio Vasari and Ascanio Condivi, then his marriage with Porzia Caro, the nephew of Annibal Caro a famous poet and writer.
Due to a lack historical documents we do not know how and where Michelangelo and Ascanio met and why they became close friend, this is the greatest mystery of this dissertation.
