(The Nativity) (The Crucifixion)
In this short publication Antonio, a friend of Uno tells us the story of this men.
Uno, was born at Ripatransone in 1890 and died in 1982.
For the "Ripani" (= The inhabitants of Ripatransone) Uno was our Leonardo da Vinci, being a sculptor, an important magistrate, a philanthropist and also a patron.
His sculptures can be admired at the Immaculate Church (Mainly known as St.Philip Neri) they are:
The Baptistry, performed in 1938 with the title of "Baptism of Jesus in the river Jordan".
On the right there is St. John and Jesus is on the left, above them there is a white dove admired by St. John, on the background there is a village.
In this church there are two big sculptures made of gypsum, on the left there is the Nativity and on the right The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ
Other plaster casts are hosted at the Gallery Plaster or Civic museum (Bonomi-Gera Palace), where there is a dedicated room.
This palace of the 1700 was bought and restructured by Uno and donated to the municipality.
Here his most important sculpture are the Crucifix, the Annunciation and the Deposition.
The face of Jesus on the cross is variable it change it depends from the point of observation (Baroque Era).
Gera was also a patron, he bought for the Civic museum, a Madonna with Child, with Saints Martin, Michael and George, painted by Vincenzo Pagani in 1529.
Twenty sketches and five artistic works of Francesco Coghetti (Bergamo 1804 - Roma 1875).
A particularity of this book are the letters written by Uno Gera to his nephew Pia Fabbris, the memory of Ernesto Rivosecchi and a detailed list of his sculptures scattered Italy and families.
