Description
At the centre of this painting, we see the Madonna, Saint Joseph, the infant Jesus, with the ox and the donkey.
This nativity is not set inside a wooden hut, but rather near an ancient building.
On the upper left side, there is Saint Nicholas of Tolentino. (a mountain village on the border with Umbria)
On the right lower side there is the donor.
On the left lower side there are two shepherds.
Above them, there are three cherubins who are holding a scroll in their hands where a phrase is written in Latin "Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men of good will"
Note the surprised face of the shepherd.
In the background there are the ruins of a castle, a plant with three characters,
Set among the rocks there is an urban agglomeration.
The sky represents the rising and setting of the sun.
